Why did we spill paint on the military chief's doorstep?
Standing Together reports on a recent action.
On Thursday 28 August, Standing Together activists spilled buckets of red paint outside the home of Israeli military Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, alongside reservists from the group Soldiers for Hostages, demanding that Zamir refuse to carry out the illegal orders to occupy Gaza! Our message is clear: Stop the bloodshed! End the war of annihilation, bring the hostages home alive! An occupation of Gaza will mean more Palestinians slaughtered and the hostages left to die. We cannot let this happen.
Eight activists were arrested in front of the chief of staff’s home. But we will not back down.

A few days ago, we joined masses of people in the streets calling to release the hostages and end the war in a day of disruption. Like last week, we blocked highways and protested throughout the day for an end to this madness. We stood together, Jews and Palestinians, against our extremist government in a shared call for an end to the horrors and another way – a way of freedom, safety, and equality for all of us.

In the West Bank, we’ve seen increasing settler violence and harassment intended to displace Palestinians from their land. More settlements, more army raids, more arrests and more violence. Palestinians are suffering under daily attacks backed by the state and the army.
And so we’re continuing to disrupt this horrific reality. Week after week we’re shattering the relative normalcy in our society that our government is using to continue their war, and mobilizing our society to fight for an end to the annihilation and abandonment.
We’re continuing to escalate our struggle through nonviolent civil disobedience and turning resistance to the war into a movement strong enough to end it. Because we deserve so much more than endless grief and bloodshed.
