Stand up against this barbaric law!

The Israeli government just passed a new law allowing the death penalty — but only for Palestinians.

The Law, passed yesterday, orders Palestinians convicted of lethal acts of terror by Israeli military courts to be hung. But this same law does not apply to Israeli Jews.

Not only is this law extremely horrifying on a moral level, it also solidifies the way that the Israeli legal system has two different sets of laws for two peoples — one for Palestinians and one for Israelis.

Palestinians live under occupation where lethal force is a constant presence at checkpoints, during arrests, in their homes, in their streets, and through settler violence carried out with near-total impunity.

This new law gives that violence formal, legal recognition, turning what was already happening into something that is officially sanctioned and systematised. We already know that government ministers throw around the word “terrorist” whenever they feel like it, and we know this law will be used to kill indiscriminately.

This is not about security for Israelis — it is about total domination over Palestinians. It is our extremist government taking their fanaticism even further and solidifying the apartheid system that applies different sets of laws to Palestinians and Israelis.

Everyone must stand up against this barbaric law that solidifies apartheid and normalises skilling. This is not complex, it is a clear and deliberate choice to make inequality law.
