"Settlers shot at us in the West Bank. We're not backing down."
Nadav Shofet, a member of Standing Together's leadership, writes:
I’m shaking with rage and shock as I write this. This morning, armed settlers in the West Bank attacked us, activists from Standing Together and our partners Rabbis for Human Rights, as we were helping Palestinians harvest their olives in the village of Qarawat Bani Hassan. The settlers flew a drone directly into an activist and injured her, and then fired live ammunition into the air and threatened to shoot directly at us as they came to grab the drone. This feeling of your life being threatened is something that’s hard to put into words.

It’s important to understand that this terror, supported by the army and state, happens every single day in the West Bank. Settlers burning homes and cars, murdering people with no accountability, and abusing and stealing animals is routine for Palestinians to experience. During the olive harvest season it’s especially easy for settlers to terrorize Palestinians since they know where they’ll be for hours at a time.
With all the fear we experienced today, I know that the presence of hundreds of Jewish and Palestinian activists during the harvest is critical. If we weren't in Qarawat Bani Hassan to stand in solidarity with Palestinians, they’d be facing this terror alone. That's why our Solidarity Guard, our protective presence initiative that stands between Palestinians and violent settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, is crucial.
Can you help us ensure that the Solidarity Guard can continue to operate in high-risk areas despite the threat of settler violence? Your support will go towards purchasing protective gear, training our activists, and covering the costs of transportation.

Not only is the Solidarity Guard important to help Palestinians on the ground, it’s a way to build a joint Jewish-Palestinian struggle against the occupation and violence, mobilize hundreds of people in our society, and demonstrate what a shared fight for life can look like.
Now is the time to grow this struggle and mobilize our entire society until we achieve the end of the occupation and true Israeli-Palestinian peace.
