Parliamentary Friends of Standing Together
UK Friends of Standing Together’s core mission is to build political solidarity and practical support for Standing Together’s work to build co-resistance between Palestinian and Jewish citizens of Israel, towards peace and equality.
We also have a domestic political platform, based on policies which represent forms of external pressure that supplement Standing Together’s work on the ground. We will shortly be updating that platform.
We are proud to work with a number of parliamentary supporters, in both the UK and Scottish Parliaments. In September 2025, nine MPs across three parties signed an open letter to the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary. In October 2025, 20 MSPs co-signed a motion supporting Standing Together’s work.
Today, we’re publicly launching Parliamentary Friends of Standing Together, a platform for MPs, MSPs, MSs, and peers to publicly support Standing Together’s work.
The six founding members are Clive Lewis MP (Labour, Norwich South), James Naish MP (Labour, Rushcliffe); Simon Opher MP (Labour, Stroud); Alex Sobel MP (Labour & Cooperative, Leeds Central and Headingley); Humza Yousaf MSP (Scottish National Party, Glasgow Pollock); and Nadia Whittome MP (Labour, Nottingham East).

Update — May 2026: Dr. Ellie Chowns MP became the seventh parliamentarian to join Parliamentary Friends of Standing Together.
Ellie previously met Standing Together leaders during their visit to the UK in 2025.
