Ceasefire in Iran, but escalation in Lebanon

Standing Together writes:

For nearly six weeks, our government has dragged all of us into a futile war, pushing escalation further every single day. Millions of people have sought shelter from missiles, many without proper protection, families have fled their homes, and brought their lives to a halt, while thousands of people across the region were killed, homes destroyed, lives shattered, entire families wiped out.

And for what?

And it’s not even over, while the war with Iran is put on pause, the escalation continues in Lebanon. This war, like everything our government has dragged us into over the years, was driven by the same logic, the same policies, the same empty promises of “total victory,” and a path that has nothing to do with our safety.

People in Iran who have been living under a communications blackout this entire time are now waking up to some semblance of safety from bombs, but still facing the terrifying reality of a regime that is emboldened and continuing to use extreme violence and repression against their own people.

A war waged by an oppressive regime was never going to be able to free anyone.

Enough with the forever war. Enough with the lies. Enough with this government of death. Real security cannot be achieved through endless, pointless, military force.

The inevitable end to all of this is diplomacy and agreements — and that's what we must demand now.
