UK Friends of Standing Together

Ask your MP, MSP, or MS to become a Parliamentary Friend of Standing Together

We recently announced the launch of Parliamentary Friends of Standing Together, a platform for MPs, MSPs, and MSs to show their support for Standing Together’s work.

If your MP has spoken out against the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza and the West Bank, and expressed support for peace and equal rights, please consider writing to them to ask them to join. A template text is below. Please feel free to adapt it.

[Introduction, e.g. mentioning that one is a constituent]… and [we are/I am] writing as [a] member[s] of UK Friends of Standing Together to ask you to become a Parliamentary Friend of Standing Together.

Standing Together is the largest grassroots Jewish–Palestinian movement in Israel, and it's at the forefront of opposition to war and the occupation. Since Hamas’s massacre on 7 October, they’ve fought for the hostages’ freedom, a ceasefire, and a political process for a just peace. They’ve made a real difference on the ground: blocking violent settlers’ attacks on Gaza aid trucks, defending Palestinians in Jerusalem from far-right attacks, and forcing mainstream Israeli media to cover starvation in Gaza.

Becoming a Parliamentary Friend of Standing Together means publicly stating your support for these objectives of delivering peace, equality, justice and self-determination for both Palestinians and Jews through joint struggle (you can read their full vision here). You can support their struggle further through aiding UK FoST with events, or through sharing media and political contacts. As a Parliamentary Friend, you will receive briefings from ST activists on the ground in Israel, and from UK FoST. Current Parliamentary Friends are listed here.

If you would like to become a parliamentary friend, please copy a reply to parliament@ukfost.co.uk.
